Get started with personal Artifacts

The internet is a big place. Sometimes it’s too big! Many apps are built for millions, sometimes billions of users. They can’t be speicifically designed for your needs or how you think or work. This results in countless features, details, and settings that you are never going to use, while the software drifts further from your needs. The noise adds up.

Exhibit gives you a safer, calmer option, where you build your own apps tailored specifically around your needs. The grocery list for how your family shops, the reading list specifically for your book club, the running tracker built for your goals. These are personal Artifacts.

Personal Artifacts are small and flexible. Artifacts can be built with AI, remixed from another project, or written by hand. They can morph as your needs change. Artifacts use foundational web technologies that don’t depend on Exhibit to be useful. If you want to take your Artifacts elsewhere, you can! Exhibit’s mission is to be the most convenient place to build, use, and share your Artifacts.

Exhibit can build Artifacts for you, and you can modify them later. Build from scratch or remix another website. Everything uses standard web technologies.

Control who sees your data

Every Artifact has its own security rules that are simple enough for anyone to understand. By default, Artifacts cannot communicate with other websites. You can open it up to websites you are comfortable with. Unlike most websites you’ll visit, with Exhibit you have a say in where your data goes.

Log it on your phone. Read it on your laptop

Artifacts keep state stored on Exhibit’s servers, so you get the same view everywhere. You can even share the Artifact with another person and they get the same state. Want to share a view of your Artifact with the world? You can create a read-only public link. Anyone can use your Artifact, but their data will stay local, keeping your Artifact clean.

The Glance shows what’s inside

A Glance shares the same data as the Artifact, and displays an overview of the Artifact’s state. The book you’re halfway through, your packing list status, you can decide what’s most important to display, or let AI decide for you.

Take it with you

Download an Artifact. Double-click it and it runs in any browser, with no Exhibit anywhere. Exhibit provides a home for your Artifacts. If you need to move, we won’t stop you.
